The Opportunity

As an SDR/BDR, you'll be responsible for generating qualified sales opportunities through outbound prospecting and strategic account engagement. Working closely with Sales and Marketing, you'll play a critical role in building pipeline and supporting the company's continued international growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and engage target prospects across the US and UK markets
• Build and manage outbound prospecting campaigns
• Research accounts and uncover key decision-makers
• Generate qualified meetings and opportunities for the Account Executive team
• Maintain accurate CRM records and activity tracking
• Collaborate with Marketing on outbound initiatives and campaigns
• Consistently achieve activity and opportunity-generation targets

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Minimum 3 years' experience in an SDR, BDR or Sales Development role
• Proven track record in outbound prospecting and pipeline generation
• Experience working in a SaaS or software sales environment
• Strong hunter mentality with a proactive approach to business development
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Highly organised and process-driven
• Comfortable working in a metrics-driven environment

Desirable

• Experience selling into mid-market or enterprise organisations
• Exposure to US and/or UK markets

We’re partnering with a venture-backed scientific software company building next-generation Crystal Structure Prediction (CSP) tools used by global pharma organisations to understand and predict solid-form behaviour at scale.

This is not a supporting R&D function sitting on the side of a product — the science you develop is the product. You’ll be working at the core of a CSP engine that is actively used in industrial decision-making.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop and refine computational methods for predicting organic crystal structures
• Run and interpret periodic DFT calculations on complex solid-state systems
• Explore polymorphic landscapes, lattice energies, and packing stability
• Investigate salts, hydrates, solvates, and co-crystal formation
• Translate crystallographic insight into robust, usable computational models
• Contribute directly to R&D that feeds into a live scientific product
• Collaborate with senior scientists on challenging, open-ended modelling problems
• Engage in technical discussions with pharmaceutical partners where needed

What you’ll bring

• PhD (or near completion) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
• Strong grounding in organic solid-state chemistry and crystallography
• Real, hands-on exposure to Crystal Structure Prediction (CSP) workflows
• Experience with periodic DFT methods and solid-state systems
• Familiarity with tools such as VASP, Quantum ESPRESSO, ORCA, Gaussian, Turbomole, Psi4 (or equivalent)
• Solid Python skills and experience working with version control (Git)

• This is not protein modelling or computational biology
• It is not docking, ligand binding, or drug-target interaction work
• The focus is entirely on solid-state organic systems and crystal behaviour

This is industrial computational chemistry solving real formulation and solid-state development problems.

What you’ll be doing:

• Apply free energy calculation methods to crystalline molecular systems
• Investigate thermodynamic stability and polymorphic behaviour of solid-state materials
• Run advanced DFT calculations and periodic system modelling
• Work across salts, solvates, hydrates, and co-crystals
• Contribute to the development of next-generation CSP capabilities
• Work closely with senior scientific leadership on technically complex R&D challenges
• Support scientific collaboration with pharmaceutical partners where needed

You’ll need to have:

• PhD (completed or close to completion) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or related discipline
• Strong understanding of solid-state chemistry and crystallography
• Proven experience applying free energy calculation methods to crystalline systems
• Experience with methods such as:
• Harmonic or quasi-harmonic free energy calculations
• Thermodynamic integration
• Molecular dynamics approaches
• Pseudo-supercritical path methods
• Strong DFT experience, including beyond-GGA functionals such as meta-GGA, hybrid, and dispersion-corrected approaches
• Experience with software such as VASP, Quantum Espresso, ORCA, Gaussian, Turbomole, or Psi4
• Python capability and familiarity with Git

Nice to have:

• Machine learning experience within computational chemistry
